Free COVID-19 At-home Tests are Available Again Online

Free COVID Home Test

The White House has announced a new limited round of free at-home COVID-19 tests for the winter. Households can now order either standard at-home tests or tests that are more accessible for people who are blind or have low vision. Shipping is free.

Older adults and people with disabilities who need support ordering the free at-home tests can contact the Eldercare Locator (800-677-1116) or the Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL, 888-677-1199).

Farm-to-School Grant

Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to assist eligible entities in implementing farm-to-school programs that improve access to local foods in the USDA Food and Nutrition Child Nutrition Programs.
Deadline is January 6.

Ending the HIV Epidemic - Primary Care HIV Prevention

Prevention Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) providing funding to expand HIV prevention services that decrease the risk of HIV transmission in underserved communities in support of ending the HIV epidemic in the U.S.
Deadline is January 17.

Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to promote the healthy nutrition of mothers, children, and families by establishing and enhancing nutrition centers of excellence to train future and current MCH nutrition professionals.

NIHB Launches Podcast Series to Increase Healthcare Access in Indian Country

The hope healing

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) launched a six-episode podcast series to inform American Indian and Alaska Native Tribal citizens and Tribal leaders on healthcare options that offer more care and better care to Indian Country. The Hope + Healing Podcast with the NIHB is a partnership with Indian Country Media and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Together, they will dive deep into topics and interview leaders from Indian Country and experts in Native health.

Letter to U.S. Governors from HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra on COVID-19 Resources

HHS

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra recently released a letter to reiterate the federal government's ongoing commitment to support efforts and provide resources to reduce COVID-19 cases during the winter.

This includes setting up additional mobile and pop-up vaccination sites, surge testing sites, as well as Test to Treat sites where Americans can not only get tested for free, but also can get prescribed and dispensed safe, effective COVID-19 treatments right on site if they test positive and treatment is appropriate for them.

Family, Responsibility, Education, Support, and Health for Latino Caregivers

This study, sponsored by the University of California in collaboration with the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), seeks to collect initial efficacy data on a telehealth family-based behavioral program for Latino children with overweight or obesity, which also includes additional caregiver support, compared with health education. The study will be conducted in La Jolla, California.

SAMHSA Minority Fellowship

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is providing a 1-year fellowship for psychiatry residents who are interested in addressing minority psychiatric mental health issues and committed to a career providing culturally sensitive psychiatric services for minority underserved populations. African Americans, Alaska Natives, American Indians, Asian Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders are encouraged to apply.
Deadline for application is February 3.
