HHS Selects Phase 1 Winners of the National Competition to Reduce HIV-Related Stigma and Disparities
Fifteen organizations and individuals have won the first phase of the HIV Challenge, sponsored by the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) in partnership with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP). The HIV Challenge was created to engage individuals, communities, and community-based organizations to identify innovative and practical approaches to reduce HIV stigma and disparities and increase prevention and treatment among racial and ethnic minority communities.
The 15 winners were chosen from more than 80 submissions from individuals and organizations from around the U.S. Each Phase 1 winner will receive a prize of $20,000 and will advance to the second phase of the challenge.

January 7 Deadline! Nominate Delegates to the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity Tribal Advisory Committee
There are only two days left to nominate candidates to serve as delegates for the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity (The Center) Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC). The Center TAC will help ensure the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) has Tribal input critical for the Center's success and effectiveness. The Center TAC will have 16 delegates, one from each of the 12 geographic areas served by the Indian Health Service (IHS), and four national at-large members. The Center TAC delegates must be: (1) elected Tribal officials from a federally recognized Tribe acting in their official capacity as elected officials of their Tribe, with authority to act on behalf of the Tribe; or (2) individuals designated by an elected Tribal official.
Nomination deadline is January 7, by 11:59 p.m. ET.

Resources: COVID-19
COVID-19 vaccines continue to work very well at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Everyone age 16+ can now get a booster shot to keep up their protection. Find free vaccines and boosters near you at Vaccines.gov.
The CDC has shortened the recommended time for isolation. People with COVID-19 should isolate for five days and, if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by five days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter.

The Rural Health Information Hub (RHIhub) seeks examples of emergency preparedness planning, response, or recovery among Tribes, rural communities, healthcare facilities, public health departments, first responders, rural serving organizations, and others who have had to adapt, collaborate, and innovate in the face of disasters and public health emergencies. This study, sponsored by Columbia University and the National Eye Institute (NEI), seeks patients, ages 18-85 years old, seen in Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) eye clinics and enrolled in their cross-sectional database. The study will be carried out at the CUMC Harkness Eye Institute in New York City, New York.
Providing Financial Incentives to Improve Attending Eye Care Visits for Glaucoma
This study, sponsored by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the CDC, seeks Black/African American and Hispanic/Latino volunteers, age 40 years or older, with diabetes, a glaucoma associated diagnosis, or a family history of glaucoma. The study will be carried out at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama.
