Deadline Extended for Nomination of Delegates to the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity Tribal Advisory Committee
OMH invites nominations of qualified candidates to serve as primary and alternate delegates for the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity Tribal Advisory Committee (CIIHE TAC). The CIIHE supports education, service and policy development, and research related to advancing sustainable solutions to address health disparities and advance health equity among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander populations.
Nominations deadline extended to January 7, 2022.

HHS Awards $2 Million for Minority Leaders Development Program
OMH has awarded $2 million in grants for the Minority Leaders Development Program, a new initiative to develop and implement a health equity-focused fellowship program at HHS.
The two-year fellowship program will provide early-career individuals with training in health equity issues and leadership, fellowship-related work experiences, supplemental learning opportunities, and mentorship.

The report Charting a Course for an Equity-Centered Data System: Recommendations from the National Commission to Transform Public Health Data Systems, published by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, encourages individuals to call on government at all levels, businesses, community-based organizations, and others to take specific action to modernize the public health data system, including who is elevated by the data collected, who is being centered in the data, who is being excluded, and why.

SOPHE Public Health Coalition Building Resources
Coalitions are essential to improving public health and to ensuring that community voices are engaged in the efforts needed for policy and systems improvements. The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) provides Coalition Building Resources for use by health educators and other community-based professionals and advocates. the Pima Indians
This study, sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), seeks Pima Indian volunteers, ages 18-55 years old, from the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. The study will be carried out at the NIDDK Phoenix Epidemiology and Clinical Research Branch in Phoenix, Arizona.
A Transition of Care Model from Hospital to Community for Hispanic/Latino Adult Patients with Diabetes
This study, sponsored by Duke University and NIDDK, seeks Hispanic/Latino volunteers age 18 years or older with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and currently hospitalized in the Duke University Health System. The study will be carried out in Durham, North Carolina.

HRSA 2022 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program pays up to 85 percent of unpaid nursing education debt for registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, and nurse faculty who are willing to work two years in either a Critical Shortage Facility or as nurse faculty at an eligible nursing school.

The State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University Program to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged In Cardiovascular Health-Related Research (PRIDE-CVD) is a mentored research program that seeks to accelerate the path to becoming an independent investigator and improve the recruitment and retention of faculty from disabled, disadvantaged, and underrepresented minority groups in the study of heart, lung, and blood disorders.

The American Diabetes Association provides training and support materials that can prepare and educate school staff to provide needed care to students with diabetes. Guidance documents, checklists, videos, posters, and other resources are available for school officials, nurses, and teachers.
