Health Insurance Coverage and Access to Care Among Latinos

The HHS Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) has released an issue brief that analyzes changes in health insurance coverage and examines disparities in access to care between Latinos and non-Latinos using data from 2013-2020, with a focus on impacts of the Affordable Care Act and the American Rescue Plan.

HHS Releases New App to Help Spanish-Speaking Patients Prepare
for Medical Appointments

AHRQ Question Builder, an AHRQ app for digital healthcare. Download on Google Play or the Apple App Store.

HHS has released a Spanish-language update to QuestionBuilder, an app intended to help patients prepare for their in-person or telehealth appointments. QuestionBuilder en español, released in conjunction with Health Literacy Month, is intended to improve health care access and equity for Latinos. QuestionBuilder in Spanish, developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), is available at no charge for phone, tablet, or laptop from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It allows users to input details of their upcoming appointments and compile a list of questions on their mobile device that they want to ask their doctor.

October 15 is National Latino AIDS Awareness Day. According to TargetHIV, viral suppression increased from 73.6% to 89.1% for Latinos from 2010 to 2018. Continue supporting your clients by replicating innovative HIV interventions. To explore Spanish-language implementation resources, visit the Center for Innovation and Engagement (CIE) Spanish-language website. The site offers HIV providers for whom Spanish is their primary language with direct access to CIE's collection of evidence-based and evidence-informed intervention tools, frameworks, and resources.

The TargetHIV Engage Leadership through Employment, Validation, and Advancing Transformation and Equity for persons with HIV (ELEVATE) program seeks to build the capacity of persons with HIV to be meaningfully involved in the planning, delivering, and improving of Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program services. The following trainings are currently open for application:
