The Greater Than COVID campaign has created a playlist of videos on kids and the COVID-19 vaccine. In the series, pediatricians answer questions on vaccine availability and safety. The Spanish-language Vacunas contra COVID-19 playlist explains how the vaccines were developed, how they work, and their safety.

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month

NHLBI Blood Diseases & Disorders Education Program

Every September, people living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), their caregivers, advocates, healthcare providers, and others come together to bring awareness to the disease and dispel the myths and stigmas surrounding it. The month also brings attention to the ongoing need for research, better care practices, new treatments, and an eventual cure. Join the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in observing Sickle Cell Awareness Month 2021 with the overarching theme, "Advancing Sickle Cell Disease Research."

State of Obesity 2021: Better Policies for a Healthier America. Special Feature: COVID-19, SDoH, and Obesity.

The 18th annual State of Obesity: Better Policies for a Healthier America, published by Trust for America's Health, found that social and economic factors linked to obesity were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The report analyses obesity rates for every state and the District of Columbia, and by racial and ethnic groups, age, and gender. It also includes recommendations for policy action by federal, state, and local governments, and across several sectors, on how best to address the social determinants of obesity.

This study, sponsored by the Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, seeks children and youth ages 6 months to 21 years old with a diagnosis of sickle cell anemia. The study will be carried out at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
