The Minority Leaders Development Program aims to enhance skills and competencies necessary for federal leadership among participants through a curriculum focused on health care policy, leadership skill-building, and cultural competence. The program also aims to incorporate fellowship-related work experiences, supplemental learning opportunities, and mentorship. The Minority Leaders Development Program is expected to support efforts to promote diversity, including racial and ethnic minorities, in senior positions within HHS agencies.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have released Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People in light of the Delta variant. The CDC recommends that fully vaccinated people wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission and that they be tested 3-5 days after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) OrganDonor.gov 2019 National Survey of Organ Donation Attitudes and Practices measured public opinion about organ donation and transplantation.

Key findings include people's support for organ donation, talking to family members about organ donation and their wishes, beliefs about organ donation and transplantation, and more. The data is available for Black/African American, Asian, AI/AN, and Hispanic/Latino populations.

This data brief from The Commonwealth Fund draws on a range of recent and historical data sets to present the state of maternal health in the United States today. Highlights from the report include:

  • The maternal death ratio for Black women is 2.5 times the ratio for white women and three times the ratio for Hispanic/Latina women. 
  • A Black mother with a college education is at 60% greater risk for  maternal death than white or Hispanic/Latina women with less than a high school education.

A Study to Evaluate Safety and Immunogenicity of mRNA-1273 Vaccine to Prevent COVID-19 in Adult Organ Transplant Recipients and in Healthy Adult Participants

This clinical trial, sponsored by ModernaTX, seeks kidney or liver transplant recipients age 18 years or older who are at least six months post transplantation at the time of consent. The study will be carried out at the Piedmont Transplant Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.

This clinical trial, sponsored by Forma Therapeutics, seeks volunteers ages 12-65 years old who have a confirmed diagnosis of sickle cell disease.
