NEW OMH Funding Opportunities: Framework to Address Health Disparities through Collaborative Policy Efforts
The Office of Minority Health (OMH) Framework to Address Health Disparities through Collaborative Policy Efforts Initiative will demonstrate the effectiveness of a methodological framework, structured processes, and tools to assess and identify policies that may create or perpetuate health disparities. The initiative will also support the modification, development, and implementation of policies to improve health outcomes. The initiative seeks applications for two separate notices of funding opportunity (NOFO): Demonstration Projects and a Coordinating Center. The Coordinating Center will provide technical assistance to the recipients of Demonstration Projects funding.

Confronting Health Misinformation: A Discussion with the Surgeon General on Building a Healthy Information Environment
Health misinformation is a major threat to public health because it can cause confusion, spread mistrust, harm people's health, and undermine public health efforts. Join U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy and the Stanford Internet Observatory this week as the Surgeon General discusses slowing the spread of health misinformation, both during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. The event will conclude with a moderated Q&A session with the audience.

Approaching Deadline: Accessing Social Determinants of Health Data through Local Data Intermediaries Initiative
The OMH Accessing Social Determinants of Health Data through Local Data Intermediaries Initiative solicits applications for projects that demonstrate whether existing local data intermediaries can facilitate community stakeholder access to and utilization of integrated community-level data, and increase community stakeholder skill and capacity to use and apply data to address health disparities among racial and ethnic minority populations.

Request for Information on Updates to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) seek public comments on a proposed ruled to update the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's payment parameters, open enrollment periods, patient navigator duties, direct enrollment option for Exchanges, and the Section 1332 waiver. CMS also seeks comments on how to improve health insurance markets for 2022 and beyond.

NAMI has partnered with the National Alliance for Caregiving to create Circle of Care: A Guidebook for Mental Health Caregivers. This guidebook is designed for unpaid friends, family, and neighbors who care for someone with a mental health condition. It includes fact sheets on topics such as talking with your loved one's doctors, community services, planning for the future, and taking care of yourself. The guide is available in English and Spanish.

Reducing Diabetes Risk Factors in American Indian Children: Tribal Turning Point (TTP Study)
This study, sponsored by the University of Colorado, Denver and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, seeks American Indian/Alaska Native children ages 7-10 years old with a BMI >=85th percentile for age and sex. The study will be carried out at the Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, Colorado.
A School-based Gardening Obesity Intervention for Low-income Minority Children
This study, sponsored by the University of Texas at Austin, NHLBI, Seton Healthcare Family and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, seeks children ages 8-11 years old. The study will be carried out at Casey Elementary and McBee Elementary in Austin, Texas, Neidig Elementary in Elgin, Texas, and Purl Elementary in Georgetown, Texas.
