OMH Announces $250 Million in Grant Awards for Health Literacy
and Equity in COVID-19 Services
The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) has announced $250 million in grant awards to 73 local governments as part of a new initiative to identify and implement best practices for improving health literacy to enhance COVID-19 vaccination and other mitigation practices among underserved populations. Over the next two years, awardee projects will demonstrate the effectiveness of working with local community-based organizations to develop health literacy plans to increase the availability, acceptability, and use of COVID-19 public health information and services by racial and ethnic minority populations.

Approaching Deadline: Family-Centered Approaches to Improving
Type 2 Diabetes Control and Prevention
The OMH Family-Centered Approaches to Improving Type 2 Diabetes Control and Prevention initiative seeks to identify specific family-centered factors that affect patient self-management of diabetes and family members' health outcomes. The target population for the intervention is racial/ethnic minority and disadvantaged families with a family member(s) aged 12 and older with Type 2 diabetes. For the purposes of this notice, "family" also includes persons who may live in the same household as an individual with Type 2 diabetes.

NEW OMH Notice of Funding Opportunity: Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity
OMH is soliciting applications for projects to establish a Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity (CIIHE), for which OMH will provide the organizational structure and operational framework. The CIIHE will support efforts including education, service and policy development, and research related to advancing sustainable solutions to address health disparities and advance health equity in the American Indian and Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander populations.

Publication: Addressing Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviors in Substance Use Treatment

This study, sponsored by the VA Office of Research and Development, seeks veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and who report a score of 12 on the 5-item Dimensions of Anger Reactions Scale. The study will be carried out at the Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Impact on Anxiety and Motivation of COVID-19 and Predictors of Individual Responses
This study, sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health, seeks volunteers age 18 years or older. There are no exclusion criteria for this study. The study will be carried out at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
