COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force Virtual Meeting, April 30, 2-6 pm ET

The COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force's mission is to provide specific recommendations to the President of the United States for mitigating inequities caused or exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and for preventing such inequities in the future. The Task Force's next meeting is open to the public. While no registration is needed to watch via HHS Live Streaming, pre-registration is required for members of the public who wish to provide public comments at the meeting.

New FY2021 Funding Opportunity Announcement: National Lupus Outreach and Clinical Trial Education Program. HHS OMH.

The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) has released a new funding opportunity announcement, the National Lupus Outreach and Clinical Trial Education Program. OMH will fund projects to demonstrate the effectiveness of interventions for increasing minority participation in lupus-related clinical trials to help reduce lupus-related health disparities experienced by racial and ethnic minority populations.

THE CONVERSATION: Between Us, About Us is a new campaign co-developed by the Kaiser Family Foundation, the Black Coalition Against COVID, and Dr. Rhea Boyd to provide Black communities with credible information about the COVID-19 vaccines. The campaign features a collection of YouTube videos and a toolkit with graphics, sample social media posts, PSAs, and flyers.  

Everyone 16 years of age and older is now eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccination. Find tips on how to increase vaccination outreach in your community with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s Guide for Community Partners, Best Practices for Community and Faith-Based Organizations, and Toolkit for Correctional Facilities.  

With the Emerging Stronger After COVID-19 series, the National Academy of Medicine has undertaken a sector-by-sector review of the American health system, the weaknesses that existed prior to COVID-19, how the sector has responded to the pandemic, and opportunities for strengthening and transforming how the health system operates after COVID-19. 

Call for Comments: Ensuring Access to Equitable, Affordable, Client-Centered, Quality Family Planning Services

The HHS Office of Population Affairs, in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), is proposing to revise the rules issued on March 4, 2019, establishing standards for compliance by family planning services projects authorized by Title X of the Public Health Service Act. The Department proposes to revise the 2019 rules by readopting the 2000 regulations to ensure access to equitable, affordable, client-centered, quality family planning services for all. 
Deadline for comments is May 17.

This longitudinal study, sponsored by MotherToBaby, seeks volunteers to advance the understanding of pregnancy and a baby's development and how they may be impacted by a woman's health condition, medications she takes, or vaccines she receives. The study will be carried out online.

PEERS: Using Peer Mentors to Deliver Depression Care

This study, sponsored by Johns Hopkins University and the NIH National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), seeks volunteers age 50 years or older to test a community-based model of depression (PEERS) that provides self-care support for minority and low-income older adults. The study will be carried out at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
