New OMH Blog: Combating Racism Advances Health Equity
The newest HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) Blog for Health Equity addresses the alarming increase of attacks on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in the United States since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. In this blog, OMH's Public Health Advisor, Juliet Bui, highlights OMH's role in the advancement of health equity as the federal government works to improve cultural competence, improve access to quality health care, and mitigate the adverse effects of racism on health and wellbeing.
OMH calls on everyone in the nation to join the federal government in condemning and combating racism—it is the right thing to do as a nation, and for our health.

New OMH Think Cultural Health Training: CLAS in Maternal Health Care
OMH Think Cultural Health has developed a new continuing education (CE) module, Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Maternal Health Care. This free, two-hour e-learning program is designed for providers and students seeking knowledge and skills related to cultural competency, cultural humility, person-centered care, and combating implicit bias across the continuum of maternal health care. This program is accredited for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and certified midwives and nurse-midwives.

Health Observance: National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
March 20 is National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NNHAAD), a day in which all American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities are encouraged to plan events that promote HIV testing and HIV and AIDS education. It is also a day to honor those who are infected and affected by the disease, as well as to honor those who have passed as a result of AIDS-related complications.

EL CENTRO: Engaging Hispanics/Latinos in the Center of Cancer Treatment Options
This study, sponsored by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the NIH NCI, seeks Hispanic/Latino men who are 21 years or older who have been diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer, locally advanced pancreatic cancer or metastatic pancreatic cancer. Studies will be carried out at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, the Boston Medical Center and Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, the University of New Mexico Cancer Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
KanSurvive: Testing a Model for Improving Cancer Survivorship Care in Rural Practice (KANSURVIVE Study)
This study, sponsored by the University of Kansas Medical Center and the NIH NCI, seeks about 20 rural primary care practices to participate in a delayed intervention-controlled trial to better identify specific gaps in processes of care while assessing what on-going training is needed for adoption of high-quality cancer survivorship care in rural practice. The study will be carried out at the University of Kansas Cancer Center in Westwood, Kansas.
