Save the Date: Advancing the Response to COVID-19

The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) will host a virtual symposium on Thursday, September 17, 2020 to highlight state, Tribal, territorial and community-based efforts to address COVID-19 among racial and ethnic minority populations. The Advancing the Response to COVID-19: Sharing Promising Programs and Practices for Racial and Ethnic Minority Communities virtual symposium aims to support and disseminate promising practices, programs and strategies for combating COVID-19, especially in communities of color.

National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, HHS OMH

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

OMH recognizes July as National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month and encourages partners to join us in educating communities about the importance of mental healthcare and treatment especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19: Tribal Telehealth Mini-Grant

The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) will provide funds to American Indian/Alaska Native Tribes, Tribal organizations or inter-Tribal consortia to assist with building capacity and responding to COVID-19 telehealth services and needs.
Deadline is July 21.

Research Grants on Reducing Inequality

The William T. Grant Foundation supports studies of programs, policies or practices that seek to reduce inequality in the behavioral, social and other outcomes of minority youth ages 5-25. 
Deadline for Letter of Intent is August 4, 3:00 pm ET.

Dental Preventive Clinical Support Program

The HHS Indian Health Service (IHS) will provide support, guidance, training and enhancement of IHS/Tribal/Urban dental programs.

This behavioral study, sponsored by Yale University and the NIH Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), seeks volunteers age 8-14 years old who have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorder or a clinically significant level of anxiety. Telemedicine Hack: A 10-week Learning Community to Accelerate Telemedicine Implementation for Ambulatory Providers

Although telemedicine use has grown exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic, many ambulatory providers still lack the knowledge and skills needed to implement video-based telemedicine into their practices. To support wide adoption of telemedicine, the HHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response is partnering with the ECHO Institute at the University of New Mexico and the Public Health Foundation's TRAIN Learning Network to deliver a free, 10-week, virtual peer-to-peer learning community called Telemedicine Hack.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) is currently requesting research proposals for access to national, multi-year data from the AAMC Consumer Survey of Health Care Access. AAMC will support studies that fit within the core mission of AAMC's Collaborative for Health Equity: Act, Research, Generate Evidence (CHARGE). AAMC CHARGE cultivates the health equity community by advancing collaborative research, policy and programmatic solutions to health and health care inequities.
