National Infrastructure for Mitigating the Impact of COVID-19 within Racial and Ethnic Minority Communities

The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) has released a competitive funding opportunity for the development and coordination of a strategic network of national, state, territorial, tribal and local organizations to deliver important COVID-19-related information to racial and ethnic minority, rural and socially vulnerable communities hardest hit by the pandemic.

CDC Poster: Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands

The Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) has compiled a list of COVID-19 Resources and the National Association of Asian American Professionals has created a COVID-19 Resources Page. Both pages include culturally appropriate resources in several Asian languages.

Salud America! and UnidosUS have collected data and other resources on how COVID-19 has impacted the Hispanic/Latinx community: Coronavirus Case Rates and Death Rates for Latinos in the United States and Issues: Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Issues: Coronavirus (COVID-19) resource page is available in Spanish. 

The Urban Indian Health Institute has created a fact sheet and illustrated poster for the AI/AN community on Talking with Children about COVID-19, and the National Association of School Psychologists has developed tips for Helping Children Cope with Changes Resulting from COVID-19.

The NIH has published COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines, which have been developed to inform clinicians about how to care for patients with COVID-19. These guidelines will be updated frequently as published data and other authoritative information becomes available.

Also, the HHS Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has added COVID-19 resources to its Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Resources for Health Centers


Health Observance: Hepatitis Awareness Month

May is Hepatitis Awareness Month!

HHS recognizes May as Hepatitis Awareness Month and May 19 as Hepatitis Testing Day

The CDC has compiled a list of Resources for Hepatitis Awareness Month and Hepatitis Testing Day, including assessment tools, digital badges, social media graphics and radio PSA scripts. The CDC has also developed the Know More Hepatitis Campaign, which encourages all adults to get tested for hepatitis C. 

To find free, local hepatitis testing services, please utilize the CDC's GetTested tool.

This report, published by AAPCHO, examines the impact of chronic disease outcomes of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPIs) at health centers and highlights the similarities and differences between NHPI-, NH-, and PI-serving health centers to health centers in the continental United States, Hawaii and the Pacific region. The data presented in this report is intended to improve understanding of NHPI communities served by health centers, and to help identify priorities and opportunities to improve NHPI health.
