Ready, Set, PrEP makes PrEP medication available at no cost. Find out if you qualify.
  • HHS: Ready, Set, PrEP. As part of Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE): A Plan for America, this new national program provides HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to thousands of people in the United States at no cost. To qualify for the Ready, Set, PrEP program an individual must: Test negative for HIV, have a valid prescription from their healthcare provider and not have insurance that covers prescription drugs. Federal Grants

  • HHS/Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA): Grant. Increasing Organ Donation Awareness Program. The overall purpose of this program is to reduce the gap between the demand for organ transplants and the supply of donated organs.

  • U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ)/Office on Violence Against Women (OVW): Grant. FY 2020 Grants to Enhance Culturally Specific Services for Victims of Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and Stalking Program. Supports community-based organizations, including Tribal organizations, in providing culturally relevant services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.

  • HHS/National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): Research grant. Effectiveness of Implementing Sustainable Evidence-Based Mental Health Practices in Low-Resource Settings to Achieve Mental Health Equity for Traditionally Underserved Populations (R01 Clinical Trial Optional).

  • HHS/HRSA, Bureau of Health Workforce: Grant. Primary Care Training and Enhancement: Residency Training in Primary Care Program. Eligible entities include accredited public or non-profit private hospitals, schools of allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine, or a public or private non-profit entity capable of carrying out a residency training program.

  • Klingenstein Third Generation FoundationAddressing Access to Care Initiative. Supports the training of non-mental healthcare providers, such as primary care providers or lay therapists, in order to improve access to mental health care for children.

  • The American Society of Hematology (ASH), in partnership with the HHS Food and Drug Administration (FDA). New recommendations. Clinical Development of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Therapies. These recommendations are the result of expert and patient led panels convened by ASH and the FDA to improve the design of clinical trials for new SCD therapies, including promoting broader use of patient reported outcomes and biomarkers as clinical endpoints. Learn more.

  • The Urban Institute: New interactive dashboard. Disrupting Food Insecurity. This dashboard equips counties with data about their food insecurity levels and related risk factors, identifies cross-cutting opportunities for intervention and groups counties by shared challenges such as housing costs, economic security and physical health.   • March of Dimes: New data. 2019 March of Dimes Report Card. This interactive page presents data on preterm birth rates, which have increased from 9.63% in 2015 to 10.02% in 2018. It also provides data on health disparities and the progress states have made toward lowering preterm birth rates. Learn more.

Opportunities for Public Comments

  • HHS/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Request for information on Priority Topics for the Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF). CDC seeks public comments to identify topics of public health importance that will form the basis of CPSTF evidence-based recommendations over the next five years.

Clinical Trials

  • The University of Miami, in collaboration with the NIH National Eye Institute (NEI): Phase 3 clinical trial. Stop Retinal Ganglion Cell Dysfunction Study (STOP-RGCD). Researchers seek volunteers age 18-85 years of age for a longitudinal study to monitor a population of glaucoma suspects as they receive noninvasive pattern electroretinograms (PERG) and other standard eye tests for glaucoma. Study to be conducted at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Fla. Learn more.

  • The University of Miami, in collaboration with the NIH National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD): Behavioral study. The Happy Older Latinos are Active (HOLA) Health Promotion Study in HIV-Infected Latino Men. Researchers seek Hispanic/Latino men age 50 years or older who are HIV infected but are virologically suppressed in order to examine an intervention to prevent chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity in Hispanics/Latinos living with HIV. Study to be conducted at the Jackson Memorial Mental Health Hospital in Miami, Fla. Learn more.

This program provides American Indian/Alaska Native students an opportunity to gain practical experience with the federal legislative process in order to understand first-hand the government-to-government relationship between Tribes and the federal government.
