OMH Grants

  • HHS/Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH): Grant. OMH Hepatitis B Demonstration Grant Program. OMH seeks to develop model comprehensive hepatitis B programs that include strategic partnerships between: community-based organizations servicing communities-at-risk; departments of health; perinatal hepatitis B programs; safety net providers; research centers; and healthcare facilities.

  • HHS/OASH: Grant. Youth Engagement in Sports: Collaboration to Improve Adolescent Physical Activity and Nutrition (YES Initiative). Support projects that address the HHS priority to expand youth participation in sports and encourage regular physical activity, especially for youth populations with lower rates of sports participation and communities with limited access to athletic facilities or recreational areas.

Federal Grants

  • US Department of Labor (DOL)/Employment and Training Administration (ETA): Grant. Reentry Projects (RP-3) - Adults. This initiative intends to assist communities in planning and implementing reentry programs to help formerly incarcerated adults make successful transitions back to the community.
    Deadline is April 25. Learn more.

  • HHS/National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): Research project grant. Reducing the Duration of Untreated Psychosis in the United States (R01 Clinical Trial Required). Supports research that tests practical, reproducible strategies for reducing the duration of untreated psychosis by eliminating bottlenecks or closing gaps in the pathway to Coordinated Specialty Care services.

  • HHS/NIH, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID): Solicitation. Development of Vaccines for the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder. Funds the development of innovative and safe multivalent opioid vaccines that protect against heroin and fentanyl.

  • Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic, in collaboration with the Laura and
    John Arnold FoundationApproaches to Reducing Consumption of Sugar. This initiative seeks to identify locally-supported policies that help reduce sugar consumption in the general population and build capacity for change at the policy level.

  • AIDS UnitedSyringe Access Fund - 2019 Off-Cycle Grants. Supports service providers and policy initiatives aimed at reducing the spread of HIV, hepatitis C, and other blood-borne pathogens among people who inject drugs and their sexual partners through expanded access to sterile syringes.

  • HHS/Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)Nurse Corps Scholarship Program. Awards funds to students enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree nursing program in exchange for their commitment to serve in high-need, underserved communities.

  • HHS/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Active People, Healthy Nation. This initiative seeks to highlight the importance of physical activity in improving the health of all Americans. In order to meet a goal of 27 million Americans becoming physically active by 2027, the CDC Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity has developed five action steps that encourage states and communities to use proven strategies to implement and scale up community programs to increase physical activity. Vaccines.gov Vaccine Finder widget
  • HHS/Office of Population Affairs (OPA): Vaccine Finder Widget. This tool makes it easier than ever to find the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in your community. The Vaccine Finder has nearly 3,000 Title X sites offering the HPV vaccine across the U. S. Download the widget and web badges at Vaccines.gov and help end HPV cancers by increasing HPV vaccination rates.

  • The Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) recognizes April 11-17 as Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW). This national observance is a week of awareness, activism, and community building that aims to amplify community-driven policy, research, and care solutions, and provide a national platform for Black-led entities and efforts on maternal health, birth and reproductive justice. Opportunities for Public Comment

  • Diverse Elders Coalition, in collaboration with the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging: Online survey. The Caregiving Community Survey. This mobile-friendly survey is for adults age 18 years and older who provide ongoing help without pay to a relative, partner, friend or neighbor who is age 55 years or older and needs assistance because of ongoing health problems or disabilities. The survey is available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Clinical Trials

  • HHS/NIH: Phase 1 interventional study. Aerobic Exercise in Women with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. NIH researchers seek women ages 21-80 years old who meet four of the 11 American College of Rheumatology criteria for the classification of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and are not physically active. Study to be conducted at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Learn more.

  • The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), in collaboration with the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine: Phase 1 clinical trial. In Utero Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation for Alpha-thalassemia Major. Researchers seek male or female fetuses from 18-25 weeks gestation with a diagnosis of alpha-thalassemia major for whom parents elect to pursue in utero transfusion (IUT), and are willing to undergo subsequent IUT for the remainder of gestation. Study to be conducted at UCSF in San Francisco, CA. Learn more.

  • National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA): College Health Scholars Program Metro DC Area Pre-Health Conference & Recruitment Fair. This event is open to undergraduate students and pre-health advisors. Students will have the opportunity to network with other undergraduate students and more than 40 healthcare professional school recruiters.

@ The Knowledge Center - Recommended Reading

In recognition of National Library Week, the Knowledge Center recommends The State of America's Libraries Report 2019, published annually by the American Library Association. The report examines issues and trends impacting academic, school, and public libraries, as well as social challenges affecting the nation at large. It features library programs designed to promote health literacy, or to address opioid use in their communities. It also reflects upon ways libraries can continue to promote their collections, spaces, and services in communities. View this document in the online catalog.
