This webinar—presented by the National Hispanic Medical Association and the Office of Minority Health’s National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities (NPA)—will highlight strategies to diversify the health workforce in order to create a more equitable future for all. Currently, the nation’s health workforce does not reflect the diversity of the nation. A diverse health workforce—made up of individuals with a wide range of characteristics and experiences, including different races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, and sexual orientations—serves as a strategy for addressing racial and ethnic health disparities. Increasing the diversity of the health workforce can help to improve access to care in underserved communities; increase patient choice, satisfaction, and health outcomes; and enhance healthcare quality for vulnerable populations. Presenters will share their experiences, recommendations, and tools for increasing the diversity of the health workforce to meet the needs of communities of color, thereby allowing for a more positive and equitable future.

The NPA is a community-driven, partnership-based, multi-level and multi-sector approach that focuses on addressing the social determinants of health (SDoH) as the root cause of health disparities and on increasing awareness of the significance of those disparities and their impact on the nation.
