  • May is Hepatitis Awareness Month, and we are highlighting the report Progress Toward Viral Hepatitis Elimination in the United States, 2017: National Progress Report with Data through 2015, which examines accomplishments of the CDC towards goals set for the elimination of viral hepatitis. The baseline data comes from 2014, which matches information found in CDC's Viral Hepatitis Strategic Plan, 2016-2020, while the goals for 2020 were adapted from Healthy People 2020 and other related initiatives. The report uses data to view the rates of new infections and mortality, along with the effect of vaccinations on this rate. Additionally, the document breaks up data by demographic variables, and lists specific indicators for hepatitis A, B, and C viruses.
