OMHRC Knowledge Center: See our newest acquisitions
    • In observance of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on March 10, the Knowledge Center recommends the book Holding On: African American Women Surviving HIV/AIDS. In the book, author and anthropologist Alyson O’Daniel shares the experiences of poor African American women with HIV as they live in an era with limited access to HIV/AIDS programs. The women profiled traverse the healthcare system in the United States, and manage issues in their personal lives such as mental health, drug addiction, violence, and chronic poverty. The book sheds light on how these factors can impact health care outcomes.
