- Dia de la Mujer Latina and the Houston Health Department have partnered to offer assistance to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Rebuilding Houston, Restoring Lives/Reconstruyendo Houston, Restaurando Vidas will provide food, clothing, and assistance with disaster relief applications. Assistance will be offered at the Hiram Clarke Multiservice Center in Houston, TX on September 8, 9:00 am-8:00 pm, and at the Southwest Multiservice Center in Houston, TX on September 9, 9:00 am-8:00 pm. the genetic basis and the environmental exposures that cause cancer. It

Saving
Lives in the Stacks, How Libraries are Handling the Opioid Crisis, was
published in the latest issue of American
Libraries. The article highlights programs developed by both urban and
rural public libraries to serve vulnerable populations in their regions. To
further discuss this topic, the Public Library Association (PLA) and
WebJunction are hosting a town hall meeting to discuss the opioid epidemic and
related effects on library services. Representatives from libraries and other
community organizations will describe their local efforts and partnerships in
addressing this epidemic. Opioid Crisis Town Hall: Library Needs and
