Men's Health Month: Helping Men Stay at the Top of Their Game

OMH invites you to boost men's health by taking a photo of you and your friends, family or coworkers wearing blue throughout the month of June and posting the photo on social media, using #ShowUsYourBlue.

  • HHS/OMH: Empowered Communities for a Healthier Nation Initiative – a new competitive cooperative agreement Funding Opportunity Announcement now open. This is a program of the Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Empowered Communities for a Healthier Nation Initiative seeks to reduce significant health disparities impacting racial and ethnic minorities and/or disadvantaged populations through implementing evidence-based strategies with the greatest potential for impact. The program is intended to serve residents in communities disproportionately impacted by the opioid epidemic; childhood/adolescent obesity; and serious mental illness.   • HHS/OMH, OMHRC, in partnership with HRSA and the Nebraska Office of Health Disparities and Health Equity: Training. VDC Grant Writing Workshop. In this free, interactive workshop for non-profit organizations, participants will learn about logic models, the components of a grant, evaluation methods, SMART objectives, work plans, and more. Clinical Trials

  • HHS/NIH, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK): Therapeutic Targets in African-American Youth With Type 2 Diabetes. NIH researchers seek African American volunteers 12-21 years old with type 2 diabetes for a study on whether using liraglutide and metformin in combination will be better than using metformin alone in treating African-American youth. Study to be conducted at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Learn more.

This toolkit includes  “ISpeak” cards for consumers to bring with them when seeking care, and a “Know Your Rights” flyer to inform both consumers and providers regarding the use of interpreter services in healthcare settings.
