  • HHS/Centers for Disease Control: Assuring Comprehensive Prevention and Treatment for Families Affected by HIV to Eliminate Perinatal HIV Transmission in the United States. Deadline is June 12, 2017. Learn more
  • HHS/Centers for Disease Control: Scaling the National Diabetes Prevention Program in Underserved Areas. Deadline is June 12, 2017. Learn more
  • HHS/Indian Health Service: Healthy Lifestyles in Youth Project. The purpose of this IHS cooperative agreement is to focus on addressing healthy lifestyle development, emphasizing nutrition and physical activity for AI/AN children and youth 7 through 11 years of age.   • Department of Agriculture/National Institute of Food and Agriculture: Women and Minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fields Program (WAMS). This program supports research and extension projects that have robust collaborations to increase the participation of women and underrepresented minorities from rural areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Adolescent Health

May is National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month. In observance, the Office of Adolescent Health will host a webinar on Wednesday, April 19 at 2 p.m. ET. Click here to register

Join the Office of Adolescent Health (@TeenHealthGov) along with grantees @UTHealthSA, @TouchstoneAZ, @BGCMilwaukee, and @TulsaCampaign for a Twitter Chat on Wednesday, April 26 at 1 p.m. ET. Get and share ideas for how to participate in National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month, including ways to get youth engaged in this important issue using the hashtag #NTPPM.

African American Health

The Keystone Symposia will host a roundtable discussion Health Disparities: The Intersection of Science and Race on May 25, 2017 from 2:30 - 4 p.m. ET. The focus of this event is the persistent health disparities that exist among underserved communities. Click here to register

Asian, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Health

A survey conducted by a group of researchers from the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research found health disparities in two Pacific Islander populations. Researchers found that about 61 percent of Samoans and nearly 53 percent of Tongans reported having health insurance compared to 79 percent of Californians. The full report can be found here.

Behavioral Health

Concerned about a young person’s drug use or mental state? Consider signing up for a free webinar on Thursday, April 20. Presenters will highlight the relationship between suicide and substance use among young people, and outline best practices in prevention and intervention. 

The program will take place from 1:30 PM to 2:45 p.m. ET and will be hosted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Hispanic/Latino Health

HHS/Office for Human Research Protections announces the creation of Spanish language materials on the About Research Participation website.These public outreach resources are intended to help potential volunteers better understand research and find the information they need to decide whether to participate in research. The new materials include Spanish versions of short videos about participating in research, and a printable list of questions that potential volunteers can ask researchers.
