Events

  • Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB), in partnership with OMHRC: Webinar. Healthy Native Youth: Offering Engaging, Relevant, Effective Health Resources. This webinar will share tips for navigating the Healthy Native Youth website, highlight a few of the health curricula available on the site, and encourage participants to submit their own programs for inclusion. November 22, 2016, 2:00 pm ET. Register.
  • University of Washington/Indigenous Wellness Research Institute: Training. Lauhoe - Indigenous HIV/AIDS Research Training 2 (IHART2) Program. This program aims to develop a network of scholars dedicated to culturally grounded research that will contribute to ameliorating health disparities among American Indians/Alaska Natives (AI/AN), Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. Deadline is December 15, 2016.   • National Indian Health Board (NIHB): Online survey. Oral Health in Indian Country. The survey will allow Tribal members, Tribal leaders and others to provide feedback on oral healthcare access and patient satisfaction in Indian Country. Learn more.

  • Learn about American Indian/Alaska Native health. See what's new in the Knowledge Center online catalog.  
  • HHS/OMH, OMHRC: Online curriculum. Circle of Life. This multimedia tool is a sexual risk-reduction program designed specifically for AI/AN youth ages 10-12 years. It teaches skills such as goal setting, decision making, and standing up to peer pressure. Learn more.  
  • Montana State University (MSU): Community-based health initiative. Messengers for Health. This program seeks to improve chronic illness management among Apsáalooke (Crow) Indians in Montana through community-based interventions. Learn more.       
  • The Library of Congress, in partnership with the National Archives and Records Administration, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Gallery of Art, the National Park Service, the Smithsonian Institution, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum: Website. Native American Heritage Month. This site compiles events, resources, trails, and exhibits that highlight AI/AN culture and history. Learn more.

OMHRC Funding

  • HHS/OMH, OMHRC: HIV/AIDS among Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Project - Health Information Campaign Subcontracts. The goal of this project is to implement an HIV/AIDS health information campaign that supports increased awareness of HIV/AIDS and increased HIV testing with referral to care of minority and hard-to-reach communities.   • HHS/HRSA: Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program National Training and Technical Assistance Programs for Resource Dissemination, Improved Data, and Organizational Development. Deadline is January 19, 2017. Learn more
  • HHS/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Research Using Linked Data to Understand Motor Vehicle Injury among Older Adults. Deadline is February 13, 2017. Learn more.  

Non-Federal Grants

  • County of Los Angeles Community and Senior Services (CSS): Elderly Nutrition Program (ENP) Services Grant. Provides funds for quality meals and related services to older individuals residing in Los Angeles County (excluding the City of Los Angeles).   • Hawai'i Medical Service Association (HMSA) Foundation: Health Disparities Grants. Provides funds for projects designed to reduce health disparities between Native Hawaiians and other racial/ethnic groups in Hawai'i through school-based projects, community-based projects, and healthcare-setting approaches. Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Health

Events

  • Asian Women for Health (AWFH), in partnership with the National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association (NAAPIMHA): Training. Achieving Whole Health: Balancing Body, Mind and Spirit. This is an interactive, one-day training for healthcare providers and community members that seeks to create bilingual and bi-cultural Wellness Coaches who understand the relationship between physical health and mental health. Clinical Trials

  • HHS/NIH, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): The Neurophysiological Effects of Intravenous Alcohol as Potential Biomarkers of Ketamine's Rapid Antidepressant Effects in Major Depressive Disorder. NIH researchers seek healthy adults, 21-65 years old. Trial to be conducted for 4-7 weeks at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Learn more.

  • US Preventive Services Task Force: Request for comments on the Draft Evidence Review for Obesity in Children and Adolescents: Screening. Deadline is November 28, 2016. Learn more
  • US Department of Justice (DOJ)/Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Criminal Justice Information Services Division: Request for comments on the National Use-of-Force Data Collection Program. The FBI seeks comments from all interested parties, including local, state, tribal and federal law enforcement, civil rights organizations and other community stakeholders.   • California Department of Pesticide Regulation (CDPR): Request for comments on DPR 16-004 Pesticide Use Near Schoolsites. The proposed action would require growers to notify public K-12 schools, child day care facilities, and county agricultural commissioners when certain pesticide applications near a school site are planned in the coming year.
