Breastfeeding Help Is Here
August 2012

When I talk to moms about breastfeeding, I always tell them about the health benefits for them and their babies. Breast milk can help protect babies from infections, and breastfeeding for the first 6 to 12 months can even help prevent obesity later in childhood.

Breastfeeding Help for New and Expecting Moms

Start Your Screening Plan

Breast milk provides just the right amount of nutrients to help your baby grow – and breastfeeding gives you time to be close to and bond with your baby. But just because breastfeeding is natural doesn’t mean it’s easy. It’s a new skill for both mom and baby, and learning how to do it can take a little help, practice, and time.

As of August 1, the Affordable Care Act covers some services to support breastfeeding. You may be able to get breastfeeding help, like counseling and supplies, depending on your insurance. Talk to your doctor or midwife about getting help with breastfeeding; they can help you get started making healthy choices for yourself and your baby.
