Farewell Message
Dear CISE community,
Effective May 9, 2025, I will be stepping down from my role as Assistant Director for CISE and returning to my home institution, Johns Hopkins University.
Ellen Zegura, Division Director for the division of Computer and Network Systems within CISE, has agreed to serve as Acting Assistant Director during this transition period. Her appointment will ensure continuity and strong leadership for CISE in the months ahead.
Serving the CISE community has been an honor. Each day, I have been inspired by the dedication and passion of my CISE and NSF colleagues, as well as by the broader science community. Your commitment to pushing the frontiers of knowledge, fostering innovation and mentoring the next generation of scientists is nothing short of remarkable.
I know this is a time of significant changes across NSF and the broader research ecosystem, and I recognize the added challenges and uncertainty this brings for our community. Amid these shifts, we need to continue to work together to articulate the importance of computing research and education, which lies at the core of so many of today’s needs for our nation. I believe there will continue to be meaningful opportunities ahead for all of us to contribute.
