Why your team should attend an NSF Engines Roadshow
The U.S. National Science Foundation invites you to participate in an NSF Regional Innovation Engines (NSF Engines) Roadshow this month. The NSF Engines program supports the development of diverse, regional coalitions to engage in use-inspired research, drive research results to the market and society, promote workforce development, and ultimately stimulate the economy and create new jobs. The program provides up to $160 million in funding for up to 10 years to develop an NSF Engine.
NSF Engines Roadshows are regionally focused virtual events that provide an overview of the NSF Engines program followed by interactive breakout rooms focused on driving cross-sector collaboration with others from your region to establish a foundation to consider submitting a proposal to the current funding opportunity.
Attendance at a virtual roadshow can lead to a stronger proposal. The NSF Engines team has reimagined this year's Roadshows based on feedback from the broader NSF Engines community. Here are four reasons why you should consider attending your region’s virtual Roadshow:
- At each Roadshow, you will have an opportunity to hear from current NSF Engines awardees who will will provide on-the-ground perspectives of what they learned during the first round of the competition and how they are navigating building an NSF Engine.
- Breakout rooms at each Roadshow will allow you to meet potential collaborators in your state and region. Everyone who opts-in will receive the contact information of other attendees to help you continue the conversation after the Roadshow ends.
- If you don't yet have a team for an NSF Engine proposal, Roadshows provide a great opportunity to meet others who plan to lead a proposal and link up.
- During each Roadshow, NSF will publish real time data on the topic areas that applicants are considering within your region. For example: Do you want to know if others are working on proposals in quantum, biotech, advanced manufacturing or another area? Attendees will receive answers to these questions and more in real time and then have the opportunity to meet collaborators in these topic areas.
This week, the NSF Engines team hosted two virtual Roadshows covering Arkansas to Texas to the Dakotas, and New England to the Mid-Atlantic. If you live in these regions and missed this week’s events, join an upcoming event and you can opt-in to have NSF connect you with others in your region later. You can watch the recording of the fireside chat from the first Roadshow on NSF's YouTube channel.
Please find the list of upcoming Roadshows below. We encourage you to invite team members from your coalition to attend so that they can take advantage of these unique Roadshow opportunities.
