Distinguished Lecture – Mitchel Resnick

Mitch Resnick

Tune in Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 12 p.m. for a distinguished lecture with Mitchel Resnick, Ph.D., of the MIT Media Lab. Register today!

In this presentation, "Catalyzing a Creative Learning Movement," Dr. Resnick will discuss how new educational technologies and strategies can support more creative, caring, collaborative approaches to learning, enabling children to develop the skills and attitudes needed to thrive in today’s complex and fast-changing world. He will focus especially on examples from his Lifelong Kindergarten research group at the MIT Media Lab, including the Scratch programming language and a new app that enables children to create and share animated stories on their mobile phones. The ultimate goal is to catalyze a creative learning movement, ensuring that children from diverse backgrounds have opportunities to develop their ideas, their interests, and their voices through creative, caring learning experiences.

This distinguished lecture is hosted by NSF's Directorate for STEM Education.
