This new Dear Colleague Letter invites proposals and supplemental funding requests that advance dynamic and agile spectrum sharing by studying its human environment, which includes economic, social and incentive issues.

Indigenous histories, archeology and DNA show that horses were central to Native American cultures in the Great Plains as early as the 1600s, a century before European records suggest.

Using AI to unlock the mystery of El Nino's impact on droughts and floods

Researchers have shown that using machine learning to analyze existing data can yield insights about the impact of El Niño on the world's great river systems—the Ganges, Congo and Amazon—and ultimately, regional weather patterns.

Gene variations for immune and metabolic conditions have persisted in humans for more than 700,000 years

The researchers suggest these variations have been maintained by natural selection and may protect against infectious diseases, outbreaks and starvation.

Study reveals steady rise in multiple funding methods needed to pay for college

The proportion of students who utilize only one or two funding sources decreased over recent decades, while those juggling three or more increased. Students using multiple sources have also become less likely to obtain a graduate degree.

Standard Application Process for access to data from 16 federal agencies

The Federal Statistical System has adopted a Standard Application Process (SAP) for applying for access to federal confidential data assets from 16 federal statistical agencies and units, with the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics serving as the project management office for this transformational effort. Collaboration by NCSES and the Bureau of Economic Analysis on Global Value Chains and Intangibles

NCSES and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) are collaborating on a new project to better understand production and use of research and development and other intellectual property products in global value chains. Global value chains are the increasingly complicated supply chains that can link multiple countries together in the stages to produce a final good or service. These efforts have yielded the report: Production and Trade of Knowledge- and Technology-Intensive Industries. Science and Engineering Indicators 2022.
