Educational Moment of Impact: I was in the 4th grade when I truly discovered my love for mathematics. My teacher, an African American woman, instilled in us that we could do anything we put our minds to. Although not always recognized as a top performer in mathematics in grade school, my passion for mathematics continued to grow in high school where all my mathematics teachers were African American women. Their representation as successful mathematicians and their reinforcement and recognition of my ability to become mathematically literate made a huge impact on my educational and career trajectory. Representation Matters!
My View for the Future of Education: I envision a Future of Education where mathematics, a launching pad for all things STEM, is celebrated and embraced by every teacher, learner, family, and community. I envision an education system that centers student learning and makes STEM learning real, relevant, and attainable for each and every student served.

Information and Listening Session on NSF's Public Access Policy
The White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy this past August issued a memo directing the Nation's major, science-funding agencies, including NSF, to ensure free, immediate, and equitable access to the products of federally-supported research. The required updates to the policy will have direct and lasting impacts on NSF stakeholders, including researchers, research institutions, scholarly societies, research libraries and the universities they support, and publishers.
NSF is holding a virtual information and listening session from 2:00 - 3:15 PM EST on November 30, 2022. Participants will be briefed on the history and driving principles of NSF’s public access policy. More importantly, this webinar will serve as a forum for NSF to hear from stakeholders, and to discuss opportunities and challenges surrounding the update of NSF's open access policy.
Please register in advance for this webinar.
