Dear Colleagues,
As a new academic year begins, we know that many of you are looking forward to another semester of discovery and education. Even amid the continuing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, you continue to inspire us through your ingenious and insightful work.
Most recently, we had the pleasure of announcing NSF’s support of more than 20 minority-serving institutions through research awards from our Build and Broaden program. The NSF-funded projects will support more than 100 researchers as they explore critical scientific topics focusing on society, people and the economy, while also providing hands-on training and educational opportunities for over 1,000 participants, including hundreds of STEM students.
As NSF Director Sethuraman Panchanathan noted, the Build and Broaden program is demonstrating new ways to support research at minority-serving institutions while fostering equitable partnerships for all institutions.
We are grateful to everyone who submitted proposals and contributed to this ongoing effort. And, we look forward to sharing yet more opportunities in the near future to amplify the incredible value of the social, behavioral and economic sciences in our workplaces, homes and communities.
