NRC to Hold First Public Meeting on Executive Order 14300 Rulemakings
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will host a hybrid public meeting Thursday, March 12, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Eastern time to discuss its approach to implementing the review and wholesale revision of regulations and guidance required by Executive Order 14300.
“Over the past several months, the NRC workforce has invested significant effort in undertaking a wholesale revision to our regulations and oversight processes in response to EO 14300,” Executive Director for Operations Mike King said, “I could not be more impressed with the risk-informed, data-driven, innovative proposals our staff have generated. We are looking forward to discussing the improvements that are underway and previewing the upcoming opportunities to interact on rulemakings that will be going out for public comment in the coming weeks.”
Stakeholders can attend the meeting in person at NRC Headquarters at 11555 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda, Maryland, or via webcast. The meeting notice includes instructions for online attendance. Participants will be able to ask questions of the NRC staff and provide informal feedback during the meeting. Public comments will only be accepted on individual rules that will be posted on regulations.gov. The current schedule of rules, including those under Executive Order 14300, can be found on the NRC’s website.
