Learn More About NGS’ NCAT Tool

Curious about NCAT?

The NGS Coordinate Conversion and Transformation Tool, or NCAT, revamps and modernizes the Geodetic Toolkit. It allows users to easily convert between different coordinate systems and/or transform between different reference frames and/or datums, in a single step. NCAT incorporates the capabilities of many NGS computer programs such as VERTCON and NADCON.

NCAT conversions and transformations can be done interactively using single or multi-point conversions directly on the NCAT page. NCAT is also available as a download or an API (application programming interface).

Watch These Tutorials to Learn More

NCAT is a one-stop solution for coordinate conversion and transformation. View these two tutorials to learn more about conversions and transformations with NCAT. Just click on the ‘Tutorial & FAQs’’ tab on the upper right of the NCAT page for the videos, and view the ‘About NCAT’ tab for a more detailed description of NCAT and some of the tools it incorporates.

While these tutorials were created for NCAT 2.0, they are generally still applicable to version 2.1.

Check out the NGS Training calendar for upcoming training classes. Also, in case you haven’t heard, there’s a new way to earn NGS webinar series certificates of attendance on your own schedule!

NGS hosts a monthly webinar series to highlight geodesy and coastal mapping programs, products, and research. There are now two ways to earn a certificate of attendance for fully viewing an NGS webinar.

  1. Attend the webinar ‘live’ for the entirety of the broadcast. Those who do so will receive a certificate via email from NGS. View upcoming webinars.

  2. *NEW* NGS, in partnership with the COMET MetEd Program, has developed a tool through which you can earn a certificate by viewing recordings of past webinars. First, create a free MetEd user account. Then, visit MetEd to access nearly all of the previous webinars NGS has hosted. Once you watch the entirety of a webinar, you can download a Certificate of Attendance.
