National Surveyors Week is March 21–27, 2021, and Global Surveyors Day is Tuesday, March 23! These events are perfect opportunities to introduce students to the many career paths open to professional surveyors, and to get involved in your professional community. 

Land surveying has been a core part of the NGS mission since the 1800s. NGS programs support the work of surveyors, and underpin numerous precise positioning, scientific, and engineering applications.

Local surveyors are improving the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) and preparing for its modernization. The GPS observations they collect and share in the GPSonBM campaign will improve the NGS Coordinate Conversion and Transformation Tool (NCAT). 

NGS will automatically reprocess these shared data and assign  updated coordinates as part of NSRS modernization.

Throughout Surveyors Week, the National Ocean Service (NOS), of which NGS is a part, will post related content on its social media accounts.
