Public Webinar on Navigating the CITES Exporting Process for Sharks and Rays
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will host a public webinar on January 14, 2025 at 2 p.m. EST.
This webinar will provide information and answer questions about the export and introduction from the sea of sharks, rays, and other marine species protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The webinar will:
- Provide CITES process information for shark and ray commercial fisheries
- Answer CITES permitting and exporting process questions
Who is affected?
- Commercial shark exporters who ship shark products outside the United States
- Dealers who buy or sell sharks or shark products that may be exported outside the United States
- Commercial shark fishers who fish on the high seas and bring sharks back into the United States
- Scientists who collect shark samples on the high seas or who collaborate with scientists outside the United States
- People who collect sharks for public display where the sharks may be exported outside the United States
