NOAA Fisheries Announces Connecticut Summer Flounder Fishery Closure

Effective December 10, 2024

Effective at 0001 on December 10, 2024, vessels are prohibited from landing summer flounder in Connecticut for the remainder of the 2024 fishing year, unless additional quota becomes available through a transfer and is announced in the Federal Register.

The Marine Fisheries Program of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection closed the state fishery starting on December 1, 2024. We are closing the Federal summer flounder commercial fishery in Connecticut to align with the closure of the state fishery and promote consistency between state and Federal management measures.

For more details, read the Federal Register notice as filed today, and the Permit Holder bulletin on our website.
