 Congratulations to our 2024 Atlantic Highly Migratory Species art contest winners! The winning 13 pieces of artwork are featured in a 2025 calendar highlighting Atlantic tunas’ importance to healthy ecosystems and to celebrate NOAA Fisheries’ successes in conservation through sustainable fisheries management. Thank you to all the students who participated in this year’s contest!

2025 Art Contest Now Open
This Year’s Theme: Swordfish and Billfish
NOAA Fisheries invites kindergarten through eighth grade students to participate in our annual Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Art Contest featuring swordfish and billfish. We’re working through art to educate students on the importance of Atlantic highly migratory species to healthy ecosystems. Students from all U.S. states and territories in public, private, and home schools are eligible to participate.
Entries should highlight swordfish and billfish found in the Atlantic Ocean. Some themes include:
- The important role swordfish and billfish play in their ecosystem to support healthy oceans and fisheries
- The diversity of swordfish and billfish and their habitats
- The unique biological characteristics of swordfish and billfish
The winning artwork will be featured in our 2026 swordfish and billfish calendar.
