Effective August 22, 2024
NOAA Fisheries is implementing Illex squid, longfin squid, butterfish, and chub mackerel specifications for 2024-2026, as recommended by the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council, effective August 22, 2024.
This action:
- Sets the final 2024 and projected 2025 Illex squid specifications, which are identical to what was in place in 2023.
- Sets the final 2024 and projected 2025-2026 longfin squid specifications, which are almost identical to what was in place in 2023. The only difference is a slight increase in the discard rate, resulting in a 0.17-percent decrease in the commercial quota.
- Reaffirms the 2024 butterfish specifications.
- Reaffirms the 2024 and projected 2025 chub mackerel specifications.
