NOAA Fisheries Implements 2024 Atlantic Spiny Dogfish Specifications

NOAA Fisheries is implementing 2024 spiny dogfish specifications. These specifications decrease the coastwide commercial quota by about 6 percent from fishing year 2023. (table below). The specifications balance the need to prevent overfishing while allowing for a commercial quota that is high enough to sustain the commercial fishery.  All other management measures and requirements, including trip limits, remain unchanged. A summary of the final 2024 catch specifications is shown below.
