NOAA Fisheries is announcing the rollover of the 2023 catch specifications for the start of the 2024 fishing year for the Northeast skate fishery on May 1, 2024. In addition, all possession limits and other management measures remain unchanged and in effect. A summary of the 2023 skate specifications is shown below.
Updated catch limits for 2024 and changes to possession limits have been recommended by the New England Fishery Management Council in Framework Adjustment 12. NOAA Fisheries is considering these recommendations and anticipates announcing a decision in early summer. The rollover specifications below will be replaced as soon as NOAA Fisheries makes a final decision and implements Framework 12 and we will notify you at that time.
