The event is an opportunity to meet with members of the mariculture industry, hear from mariculture experts, and connect with farmers, processors, researchers, community leaders and other professionals.

Apply by January 31: Rising Junior and senior undergraduates are invited to apply to University of Maine’s 10-week AquEOUS fellowship, a USDA funded Research and Extension Experience for Undergraduates program which offers a unique opportunity to combine ecological knowledge from indigenous science with STEM concepts from western science to solve real-world problems in aquaculture.

Concept papers due February 20: The Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office and Wind Energy Technologies Office announced a funding opportunity which includes up to $1.5 million for projects that advance potential synergies between offshore wind and/or marine energy and aquaculture development.

Apply by March 15: The eeBLUE Aquaculture Literacy Mini-grant Program is accepting proposals! Applicants can propose projects up to $20k for the co-development of innovative educational experiences that explore aquaculture topics.

- Check out this Connecticut Aquaculture Playlist on YouTube to learn about the state’s aquaculture industry. Funded by National Sea Grant, Connecticut Sea Grant, UConn Extension, and the UConn College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, the program will launch a new video every two weeks this winter.

The US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service recently released its Aquaculture Research Action Plan for 2025-2029. The Action Plan reflects new and/or expanded program directions that are a result of new funding and guidance provided by the Congress and/or redirecting current capacities.

U.S. aquaculture provides safe, sustainable seafood and creates jobs and business opportunities in coastal communities. Through a collaboration between NOAA Fisheries, the National Sea Grant Office, and NOAA's Office of Education, the Community of Practice for Aquaculture Literacy (CoPAL) works to enhance public understanding of sustainable aquaculture and seafood. CoPAL hosts events, shares resources, and coordinates partnerships across education, aquaculture industry, and research communities.
