NMFS Initiation of Government-to-Government and Government-to-Corporation Tribal Consultation for Action Items at the June 2023 NPFMC Meeting
Dear Tribal Leaders and Tribal Representatives,
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Regional Office (AKRO), Sustainable Fisheries Division AKRO (SFD) would like to invite you to consult with us prior to the June 2023 North Pacific Fisheries Management Council (NPFMC) Meeting on any Council agenda items that may have tribal implications. NMFS has identified that the following actions may be of interest to you:
- BSAI crab harvest specifications (annual report)
- Observer reports (annual report)
- Bristol Bay Red King Crab closure areas (initial review)
- Crab C share recent participation requirement (initial review)

Please reach out to the NMFS AKRO Tribal Relations Coordinator Amilee Wilson (amilee.wilson@noaa.gov), as soon as possible if you have interest in consulting or engaging with us. Consultation or engagement may occur on any Council action in addition to those listed above. Depending on tribal response, we are aiming for a mid to late May timeframe.
