Effective February 6
NOAA Fisheries announces a final rule that amends the regulations to allow the use of the Omega net mesh measurement gauge to enforce trawl net mesh size. This rulemaking does not remove the use of the wedge-shaped gauge from the regulations, which remains an approved alternative tool for measuring net mesh size.
The rule also makes minor changes to the regulations that correct erroneous cross-references in the summer flounder gear restriction regulations.
For more details, see the rule as filed in the Federal Register or our bulletin.
