NOAA Fisheries Announces Proposed Rule to Adopt the Omega Electronic Mesh Measurement Gauge

NOAA Fisheries announces a proposed action which would amend the regulations to allow the use of the Omega net mesh measurement gauge to enforce net mesh size.  This proposed rulemaking would not remove the use of the wedge-shaped gauge from the regulations, which would remain an approved alternative regulatory tool for measuring net mesh size.

The proposed rulemaking also announces proposed changes to the regulations that would correct incorrect cross-references in the summer flounder gear restriction regulations.

Read the proposed rule as published in the Federal Register today. The comment period is open through October 31, 2022. Submit your comments through the e-rulemaking portal.
