The new Fisheries of the United States report is now available, with the latest data on landings totals for U.S. recreational fisheries, commercial fisheries, and aquaculture by species. It also has data on the U.S. fishery processing industry, imports and exports of fishery-related products, and domestic supply and per capita consumption of fishery products. Read more »
Guide to Federal Aquaculture Grant Services Now Available
Federal agencies collaborated to create a Guide to Federal Aquaculture Grant Services that focuses on federal grant programs that aquaculture producers, researchers, and other stakeholders may be eligible for.
Programs listed include federal cooperative agreements, contracts, loans, or other direct support programs for aquaculture stakeholders. The guide includes a variety of different funding types and programs that support research, development, operations, and other work to foster sustainable domestic aquaculture. This guide is intended to provide an overview of grant opportunities and will be updated periodically to highlight any changes or new opportunities. Read more »

The Indigenous Aquaculture Collaborative is a network of Pacific-region Sea Grant offices; Northwest Tribes and First Nations, Native Hawaiian and Indigenous communities; and organizations and universities working as a community of practice to advance Indigenous Aquaculture. Hawaiian Fishponds: Providing Physical and Cultural Sustenance
Once, nearly 500 fishponds provided local Hawaiian communities with aquacultured seafood. Time, natural disasters, development, and cultural-economic changes led to only four working fishponds by the dawn of the 21st century.
