What's Happening Within the MEP System
What's So Cool About Manufacturing? Video Contest
Dream it. Do It. Pennsylvania and the Manufacturers Resource Center presents its 2015 student manufacturing video contest. Fans can vote for their favorite videos until Saturday at midnight. The student videos are posted online now at www.dreamitdoitpa.com. This annual event is growing, MRC has added another county into the mix this year, and enrollments in the Lehigh Valley career and technical schools increased significantly in manufacturing career paths - since last year. CEO, Jack Pfunder, led the effort and successfully raised the funds from community sponsors to make this initiative possible again.
February Face of Manufacturing
Faces of Manufacturing was created by the GaMEP at Georgia Tech to honor the hard-working, dedicated people throughout the state of Georgia who work within or are affected by manufacturing companies.
This month's Face of Manufacturing is Steven Shaw. Knowing he liked working with his hands, being creative, and problem-solving, the February Face of Manufacturing chose industry over arts in high school because he was a “gearhead at heart.” 'From joining a robotics team to obtaining a college apprenticeship in a machine shop, at 22 Steven Shaw has found his passion in manufacturing.' Read Steven’s story here and see the video. If you have questions about the campaign or would like to provide feedback, please email Katie Takacs, GaMEP marketing manager at katie.takacs@innovate.gatech.edu or Karen Fite, GaMEP director at karen.fite@innovate.gatech.edu.
