MEP 2012 Annual Report

MEP has released a new publication, the 2012 MEP Annual Report, designed to present the most notable achievements, development, and facts of the past year. It is meant to be a reference book for all those who are interested in American Manufacturing and the MEP.

The report includes an overview of MEP, program and partnership highlights, MEP's impact data, message from the Advisory Board, and center contact information. To view or download the report, click here.

2013 Summer Regional Meeting Updates & Registration

NIST MEP will be hosting two regional meetings for center leadership and other relevant staff to discuss the status of the MEP system, changes in manufacturing, and how best to position the MEP in provide services going forward. These meetings provide MEP with the opportunity to ensure center staff are educated and aware of the latest tools, topics, and goals of the MEP system.

The Draft agenda is now posted on the event websites. Some of the topics that will be covered at these meetings include:
1. Overview of the NIST MEP Strategic Plan
2. Update on the MEP System Collaboratory
3. Center and Project Impact Analysis
4. Market Industry Analysis & Outlook
5. Panel Discussion: Engaging a CEO in Transformational Dialog

In order to register for these meetings, please click the link below for the appropriate meeting. The event page will have additional information including meeting logistics, registration, draft agenda, etc. The registration fee for each meeting will be $250/person.

June 25-26, 2013 – Denver, CO (register here)
June 24, 2013 - MEP Advisory Board - Denver, CO
July 23-24, 2013 – Philadelphia, PA (register here)

Based on locations we assume that the Pacific Northwest, Southwest and Midwest centers will attend the Denver meeting, and the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast centers will attend in Philadelphia. However, both events are open to everyone.

Green Technology Scouting: A Webinar for Practitioners of Technology Scouting

Join us in a webinar on Wednesday, June 5 at 11:00 am to 12:30 pm EDT to learn how to use Technology Scouting to help address your clients’ green needs. This is a great opportunity for MEPs who have gone through the NIST MEP Technology Scouting training and have clients that are interested in more sustainable practices, or in finding more environmentally friendly technology solutions to meet their needs.

Led by Jamie Pero Parker, a practitioner and mentor of Green Tech Scouting, participants will learn how to help their clients think through their options and find those green solutions.

MedHab, one of the three finalist for the TECH Fort Worth Impact Awards, has developed a patented, wearable medical device called StepRite that can measure body weight, pressure, gait, flexibility and thermal sensing of lower extremities using pressure sensing and accelerometer technology. The West Virginia MEP will host the Family Business Advisor Certification Program and welcomes other Centers who may want to train staff. The program will be delivered by Lisë Stewart of Galliard Group. This complete service delivery model prepares advisors to work with owners on strategies for the future of their business. Participants receive program materials, access to online assessment and delivery tools, and implementation coaching during the first engagements. Certification cost is $1995. State of the Centers and Comparative Performance
Join us for a 90 minute webinar to learn more about recent research we have done to look at the characteristics of high performing centers in CORE. This webinar is the first in a series that looks at the links between MEP center performance and center characteristics across different dimensions including funding, capacity utilization, use of third-parties, and other factors associated with business model and strategy choices. This webinar is being conducted under the umbrella of the MEP Collaboratory and will help inform centers and the MEP system along critical dimensions of decision making, and is intended to help prepare centers for discussions at the summer regional meetings.

The Black Belt training schedule for 2013 is listed below. If you would like to register, please email Kari Reidy with the name of the individual(s) you are registering and their proposed dates. Because NIST MEP is making a significant investment in the cost of this training we do expect that those registering are committed to this program and agree to complete their Black Belt certification within the 1 year time requirement.

Please read the updated policies, procedures and FAQs that are posted on MEIS. This document explains the changes and updated policies to the Black Belt certification program and will continue to be updated with the latest FAQs.
