During the back-to-school shopping rush, price verification audits ensure that the price on the shelf is the price paid at the register. Ahead of Labor Day weekend travel, inspectors test retail motor fuel pumps. As crops mature, inspectors evaluate heavy-capacity truck scales and test grain moisture meters to ensure fair trade during the harvest. At roadside produce stands, farmer’s markets, and 4-H youth livestock auctions, inspectors test scales so every transaction is accurate.
