NIST Seeking Comments | Draft Criteria for Labeling Program on Capabilities of IoT Devices

IOT Graphic

NIST is seeking comments by October 17, 2021, on draft criteria for a labeling program on the cybersecurity capabilities of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This effort is part of an initiative assigned to NIST under the Presidential Executive Order on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity (14028) issued May 12, 2021. We aim to identify the key elements and desired outcomes of a labeling program rather than establish a new one, and the draft criteria suggest potential baseline security measures for IoT devices.

virtual public workshop looking at the challenges and practical approaches regarding both consumer IoT and software labeling – will be held September 14-15, 2021. It will include panel discussions and presentations based on consumer software labeling position papers and preliminary feedback on the potential baseline security criteria for IoT devices. The workshop requires advanced registration and is free of charge. Register by September 13, 2021
