NIST and OSTP Launch Effort to Improve Search Engines for COVID-19 Research

NIST and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) launched a joint effort to support the development of search engines for research that will help in the fight against COVID-19. The project was developed in response to the March 16 White House Call to Action to the Tech Community on New Machine Readable COVID-19 Dataset.

CARES Act Funding to MEP Centers to Aid in Pandemic Response

The CARES Act provided $50M for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) to help U.S. manufacturers prevent, prepare for and respond to the coronavirus.  Through a formal Request for Applications, MEP centers in every state and Puerto Rico may apply for funding to support COVID-19 projects.  These awards will allow MEP centers to help manufacturers recover from workforce and supply chain interruptions; apply for private insurance claims and disaster loans from the Small Business Administration; and access resources at the federal, state and local level.

MEP Centers Receive Awards to Deploy Advanced Manufacturing Technology Services to U.S. Manufacturers

On May 5, 2020, awards were made to four MEP Centers to deploy advanced manufacturing technology services to U.S. manufacturers.  MEP Centers in Michigan, Indiana, Texas and California each received cooperative agreement awards for $1M.

Notice of Funding Opportunity: National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) K12 Cybersecurity Education Outreach Program

NIST is soliciting applications from U.S.-located, non-Federal entities to assist the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) in its outreach efforts to build a K12 community that inspires cybersecurity career awareness with students in elementary school, stimulates cybersecurity career exploration in middle school, and enables cybersecurity career preparedness in high school.

NICE seeks to provide financial assistance to an organization engaged with stakeholders involved in helping K12 students pursue cybersecurity education and work-based learning opportunities through a year-round communication and engagement strategy that culminates in the annual NICE K12 Cybersecurity Education Conference.

Applications for the funding opportunity must be submitted by Monday, July 1, 2020.

 


Input on Future Manufacturing USA Alliance Institutes

The Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office, which coordinates with other federal agencies on Manufacturing USA, has issued a Request for Information (RFI).  The office is seeking comments from the public on an "alliance pathway" where manufacturing centers outside of Manufacturing USA could be recognized by the Secretary of Commerce as centers for manufacturing innovation.  Please see the RFI for additional details and submit your input here.  In addition, please consider attending an upcoming webinar.
