MEP Update Meeting

We look forward to seeing those of you traveling to Charleston for our System Update Meeting tomorrow and Wednesday.  Attendee list, agendas, slides, and other materials have been posted onto MEP Connect (you need to use your MEIS username and password to access them). There will be a MEP Advisory Board meeting the following day on Thursday, May 19th which is open to all interested in attending. If you have any questions, please contact Samm Bowman at samm@nist.gov.

Make it in America Challenge Webinar

In December 2013, MEP awarded $3.75 million in Make it in America (MiiA) grants to 10 MEP centers in nine states. The 3-year grant awards are in addition to the $20.5 million in MiiA funding from three other federal agencies. As part of the MiiA Challenge, participating MEP Centers have provided a wide range of technical and business assistance to encourage and support reshoring, improve supply chains, and develop the manufacturing workforce. Last week, MEP released the latest interim report providing update information on projects for the ten awards.

May 25 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM EDT. In honor of the Make it in America Interim report (and two years of excellent grant work), Make it in America representatives from Maine MEP and NEPIRC will present on their activities as part of these awards.

Additive Manufacturing Community of Practice Workshop

There is interest within the MEP network to develop a community of practice around additive manufacturing. To develop such a AM CoP, we are piloting a training workshop.  The AM CoP workshop is at the University of California at Irvine and the tuition will be $400, not including the cost of travel.  The training will be intensive and include modules covering: business and finance case development; each of the technologies; and a hands-on print.  For more information about the workshop, click on the event link located on MEP Connect.
