July is Minority Mental Health Month
July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Racial and ethnic minority communities face unique challenges regarding mental illness and access to mental health care. This month-long observance aims to raise about the importance of ensuring equitable access to mental health treatment and care and to empower individuals and communities to prioritize mental well-being and seek the support they need.

NIMH offers brochures and fact sheets on mental disorders and related topics for patients and their families, health professionals, and the public. Printed materials can be ordered free of charge. Brochures and fact sheets are also in digital formats and available in English and Spanish.

National HIV Testing Day is observed on June 27 to emphasize and raise awareness about the importance of HIV testing, especially for those at increased risk of getting or transmitting HIV.
NIMH is guided by its Strategic Plan for Research, which outlines the institute’s priorities, from fundamental science to public health impact. NIMH is seeking feedback on its current Strategic Plan for Research to improve the potential usability, effectiveness, and impact of future strategic plans.
Responses are welcome from all interested parties, including but not limited to academic and research institutions; professional associations, organizations, and societies; advocacy organizations; and members of the public. We appreciate your input and invite you to share this Request for Information (RFI) opportunity with your colleagues and others in your community.
