Dear Members of the NIMH Community:

 

You are cordially invited to attend the next Open Policy Session of the National Advisory Mental Health Council (NAMHC) on Thursday, January 31, 2019. The NAMHC Open Policy Session is an excellent opportunity for the mental health research and advocacy communities to stay informed about current programs and priorities of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).

 

The Open Policy Session will be held in Conference Room C at the Neuroscience Building (NSC), located at 6001 Executive Boulevard, Bethesda, Maryland. The session is scheduled to begin at 9:15 am EST and conclude by 12:50 p.m. EST. The Open Policy Session will also be available for viewing over the internet via the NIH videocast website. 

 

The planned presentations and discussions include the following:  

 

  • Joshua Gordon, NIMH director, will give a report on NIMH.
  • Joan Luby, Samuel and Mae S. Ludwig Professor of Child Psychiatry, Washington University School of Medicine, will present “An Investigators Journey from Phenomenology to Treatment to Implementation: Progress and Pitfalls in Advancing Public Health in Depression.”
  • Diana Bianchi, NICHD director, will present a report entitled, “The Many Opportunities for Enhanced Partnerships Between NIMH and NICHD.”
  • Andrea Beckel-Mitchener, NIMH Office for Disparities Research and Workforce Diversity, will present the “Triennial Report of the Inclusion of Women and Minorities in NIMH Research.”
  • NIMH staff will discuss concepts for potential future funding initiatives.

 

Time for public comments is currently scheduled for 12:45 p.m. EST, although the time could change. We recommend you check the NAMHC website for additional details and to view the meeting agenda.  If you have any public comments, please note this on the registration form or inform Wanda Harris at the pre-registration desk prior to entering the meeting.
